Thanksgiving with Marty and Debbie

We had a great Thanksgiving this year with Marty and Debbie. They arrived on Thursday morning and we cooked and chatted most of the day. We made several gluten free dishes including apple pie and cheesecake. The whole meal was fantastic and the company was even better!

On Friday we went out shopping but decided it wasn't anything we wanted to get up at 4 am for. They guys left for CompUSA at 9 or so and Debbie and I began at 10. We shopped all day until 2 when we met for lunch and then the boys went home while the girls went back to the mall to see what bargains were left. We finally got home after 9 - exhausted and a lot poorer than we began the day! The van was loaded to the rim - even with the rear seats removed. Granted - we did purchase a big Christmas tree in there as well, but there were plenty of other bags too.

Since we emptied the van, Debbie and I thought there might be more things out there that we "needed", so we went out again on Saturday to Kohl's, and a couple other quick stops. I wish I could say that with all that shopping my Christmas shopping is now done, but it's not even close! Why do I find so many things that we need rather than gifts for the people on my list? Oh well...it was fun. It was exhausting and fun all at the same time.

Saturday night we put up the newly purchased Christmas tree - complete with lights this time! And the kids were so excited to pull out all the ornaments and put them on the tree. It's amazing just how many ornaments can hang on just one single branch when you let a 4 year old decorate the tree! Marty and Debbie got to just hang out and relax with Marty's new laptop from CompUSA!

Luis already had put the lights up on the outside of the house the weekend before. So now we are officially ready for Christmas - I still have more decorating to do, but at least we got the essentials done.

Graciela and Diego are getting so big. It's amazing how fast 7 years can go by. We're going to try and keep this blog going for a while. Check back often to see new photos of the family. I'll try to send e-mails when I update. I feel so 'in-the 21st-century' having a blog! :)

These photos were taken by our resident photographer, Luis (a.k.a. Papi). We went to a beautiful little park not too far from the house in October for some nice Fall shots. They turned out pretty cute.
